Work with Hendrina
Therapy with Hendrina Sterling Rodríguez
Practising psychotherapist and CBT hypnotherapist, and the founder of Echo Journey. She works with individuals and couples, in a considered, unhurried way.
About Hendrina
Hendrina Sterling Rodríguez is a bilingual psychotherapist, clinical hypnotherapist, and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP-II), and an accredited member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (MNCPS Acc). She has spent more than a decade working across the NHS and private practice, and was named Online Therapist of the Year, South West England, in the 2024/25 Prestige Awards.
She works with individuals and couples, in English and Spanish, on anxiety, burnout, trauma, self-esteem, relationship difficulties, and life transitions. Her approach is integrative and trauma-informed — combining structured method with genuine warmth, so sessions feel considered rather than clinical. She is also the founder of Echo Journey.
What the work involves
Individual therapy
Regular one-to-one sessions focused on what you bring — patterns you keep meeting, stress and burnout, anxiety, low mood, or a period of change. Sessions combine talking therapy with practical CBT work, and, where it fits, CBT hypnotherapy.
Couples therapy
Sessions with both partners, giving each person room to be heard and helping you notice the pattern the two of you fall into, rather than relitigating the last argument. The focus is on communication, repair and what each of you needs.
Getting started
Work begins with a consultation: a conversation about what brings you here, how she works, and whether it feels like the right fit. There is no obligation to continue.
How I work with couples
Couples work draws on several well-established approaches, chosen to fit what a particular couple actually needs rather than applied as a single formula:
Gottman Method
Identifying the specific patterns a couple falls into during conflict, and building the skills that research shows distinguish couples who stay connected from those who drift apart.
Imago Relationship Therapy
Structured dialogue that helps each partner really hear the other, often surfacing how early relationship patterns are still shaping the way you argue or withdraw now.
Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT)
Keeping sessions practical and forward-looking: what's already working, what a slightly better week would look like, and how to get there without relitigating every past disagreement.
CBT
Working with the thought patterns and reactive habits that show up in the relationship, so old triggers stop running the conversation.
In practice, sessions blend these depending on what a couple brings — some weeks are about de-escalating a repeating fight, others about rebuilding everyday connection.

Therapy with Hendrina is separate from Echo Journey. Echo itself is not therapy and is not a crisis service — if you need urgent help, contact a licensed professional or emergency services.
